1. Donate Items for the Thrift Shop
Contributions of items to be sold in the thrift shop help to fund Auntie Helen’s laundry service.  Donations of the following items in good condition are always accepted:

  • Men’s and women’s clothing
  • Shoes
  • China and glassware
  • Household appliances
  • Tapes and CD’s
  • Jewelry
  • Children’s toys and games
  • Luggage and backpacks
  • Framed artwork and mirrors
  • Small furniture items

Auntie Helen’s is a federal non-profit corporation.  Your donations are tax deductible to the full extent of the law.  Receipts are provided for your donations.

On a limited basis, appointments may be made for the pick-up of donations.  Call 619-584-8438 for details.
 
2. Give Items to be Used in the Laundry
Donations of items used in Auntie Helen’s laundry will be gratefully accepted including the following:

  • Laundry detergent including those free of dyes and perfumes        
  • Bleach         
  • Softener sheets          
  • ProPride 33-gallon trash can liners (150 quantity) from Smart & Final

We will also gladly accept the following medical equipment in good condition:

  • Shower chairs            
  • Wheelchairs            
  • Walkers                   
  • Canes               
  • Bedside commodes
     

3. Make a Monetary Contribution

4. Volunteer in Our Laundry or Thrift Shop
Wash and dry clothes.  Fold laundry.  Pick up and sort donations for the thrift shop.  Pick up and deliver laundry for clients.  Set up merchandise in the thrift shop.

5. Corporate Matching Gifts
Many companies have corporate matching gift programs through which they match charitable contributions by their employees. Through corporate gift matching, your employer can multiply your gift to Auntie Helen's. Ask your employer if you have such a program where you work. Here is a partial listing of companies that match gifts.
